Plants, Animals and Lifezones
Join one of our expert naturalists to learn about Telluride's native plant and animal species and where to find them by altitude and habitat. You will also discover some of our region's introduced invasive species and how they threaten our natural ecosystems.

Herbs, Edibles and Medicinals
If you like to eat your way through life, then this is the trip for you. You will have the chance to sample a variety of plants, berries, flowers, roots and fungus (seasonally dependent) and learn about the nutritional and medicinal value of each.

Telluride's Trees
Perhaps you love shade, maybe you like reading the newspaper. Either way, trees play an integral role in your life. In this outing you will learn about the trees that make up Telluride's ecosystems and the integral role they play in our biological community.

Fire and Ice
This geology seminar will give you an appreciation for the millions of years that went into making Telluride such a beautiful place. You will discover how glaciology and volcanism worked together to form Telluride's landscape.

Mushrooms
In late summer and early fall, you can join our naturalists to explore the rich world of the fungus. You will learn how to create spore prints and identify several of Telluride's mushroom species. Chanterelles, morels, porcini (boletus edulus), shaggy manes and puffballs may be among your findings and you will be able to feast on your fruits (or fungi, as the case may be) of your labors.

Wildflowers
Mid-June to mid-August is the peak season for Telluride's wildflowers. There are hundreds of species filling the valleys with a rainbow of colors. You will learn the basics of botany to identify and classify a variety of flowers.
